Re-styling Furniture- Why We Love It?
Because it allows us create a home that is warm and welcoming.

Try it yourself – this example shows the work of customer Deirdre Madigan using Milk Paint in Evening Plum mixed with Lamp Black and highlighted with Gold rub and Buff. This is a paint finish that anyone can achieve with the help of our quality products, available online and in store .
Here at shabby.ie and in store at in our shop in Borrisokane ,we certainly are lovers of a warm and welcoming home. Creating this look is easy with our help and we teach you how to add character, personality and charm to your interior decor style . Sometimes the need for a little colour is necessary and pastels are the perfect choice, as they are subtle and easy on the eye. They brighten up any space, adding to the overall atmosphere of the room without screaming out for attention. But we also show you there is no need to be afraid of a little pop of strong colour too.
We teach our clients the difference styles of painting in our monthly members club, the Upcyclers Painting Academy, from shabby chic (items are often heavily painted through the years, with many layers showing through intentionally time-worn areas) and creating the perfect sprayed like finish to suit our modern homes. The shabby chic style is imitated in faux painting using glaze or by painting then rubbing and sanding away the top coat to show the wood or base coats, known as “distressing” the finish of the furniture. This gives a classic shabby finish that we know some of our students love.
Shabby Chic is Easy and Forgiving
Another reason that we love this style is that it can be applied to almost any piece of old furniture. The style can be achieved by any amateur designer and as it has a distressed finish, any mistakes that you make are forgiven and become part of the character of the piece.
You don’t need a degree in interior design to make you shabby piece look great. Simply start with the right equipment and paints and you will be able to create something that you will be forever proud of.
Re-styling Furniture is not a Phase
So many interior design styles come and go out of fashion. So often we can identify items as being from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Not so Hand Painted Furniture. The piece that you create today, will still look great in 2, 5 or 10 years time.
Our shop has a wide range of chalk paints, milk paints, glazes, stains , tops coats, stencils, mouldings and so much more. All you need to achieve that look on your old, tired piece of furniture, so roll up your sleeves and transform that eyesore, into your hand painted masterpiece. We will take you step by step through the whole process, either in store or online in the Upcyclers Club Painting Academy
Private Masterclasses and group workshops are also available in store just call 003536727792 from Wednesday to Saturday to book .
